TRADITIONAL VALUE

  • These are manufactured traditionally with more of iron, carbon, silica and other metals in minor quantities.
  • Later they are thermally conditioned in a traditional way using edible sesame oil, for the ease of use. 
  • Compared to iron vessels, cast iron is heavier and thicker. This makes them to last for generations, with regular maintenance.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • The surface of the cast iron cookware might be slightly rough initially. But its continuous usage smoothens the vessel and consumes less oil.
  • Apply a layer of oil inside and outside of the cookware, after every wash. And a little more if it is not to be used for more than a week. This would help to retain the natural non-sticky lining. Clean them before every use. 
  • Never allow the cast iron cookware to get soaked in water for longer duration. This helps to avoid rust formation. 
  • Better not to store or cook any acidic (only) foods (like tamarind, tomatoes or citric foods) for many hours as iron directly reacts with them and causes bitterness within.
  • Use milled rice flour / chickpea flour with a soft or semi soft scrubber for everyday cleaning. Do not use hard scrubbers, as they might remove the natural non-sticky lining quickly.
  • Never use detergents / chemicals, as they might retain within the pores of utensils and get leached into the food. 
  • These pans might tend to crack / break when dropped or with improper care.
